This SmartPOS Shopper glossary explains the words you meet in the app in plain English, from store code and membership to cart code, store credit and booking deposit. Each definition links to the help page where the feature is explained step by step.

## Stores and memberships

### Store code

A short code of six letters and numbers, printed under a store’s QR poster. Type it in **Add a store** to join that store without scanning. A store can make a new code, which stops old posters from working for new members. [Join a store](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/stores/join-a-store/).

### QR poster

The poster at a store’s entrance or counter with a QR code and the store code. Scan it with the app’s **Scan the QR poster** button to join the store. Scanning it with your phone camera opens the store’s join page, which can open the app.

### Membership

Your link to one store after you join it. It gives you that store’s prices, Scan & Go, receipts, orders, bookings and chat. Each store you join is a separate membership with its own customer number, balance and points. [Use several stores](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/stores/multiple-stores/).

### Waiting for approval

The status of a membership at a store that checks new members first. You can browse, but you see shelf prices and have no account yet. The store approves you from its office, or a cashier approves you when scanning your store card.

### Store look

The design a store chose for its pages in the app: the layout of the Home screen, product list and product page, plus its colour. That’s why stores can look different from each other. [Store page and looks](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/stores/store-page/).

### Guest

Using the app without signing in (**Look around as a guest**). Guests can see what the app does and look at listed stores, but must sign in with their e-mail to join stores, order or keep receipts.

## Prices and shopping

### Member price

A lower price some stores give their approved members. It shows with a crown badge and **Member price** in the app, and you pay it at the counter when the cashier scans your store card.

### Shelf price

The normal price everyone pays, the same as on the shelf label. You see it before a store approves your membership, and when a store has no member prices.

### Price check

Scanning a barcode with the app to see a product’s price, stock and your member price, without adding it to a cart. [Price check](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/scan-and-go/price-check/).

### Scan & Go

Scanning products into your phone cart while you walk through the store. At the counter you show a cart code, the cashier loads your cart and you pay. [Scan & Go](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/scan-and-go/scan-and-go/).

### Estimated total

The cart total the app shows while you shop. It’s an estimate: the cashier’s till confirms the final total, including offers, weighed items and tax.

### Cart code

The QR code and short code you show at the counter after **I’m at the counter**. The cashier scans or types it to load your Scan & Go cart. It is time-limited and works once. [Check out at the counter](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/scan-and-go/pay-at-the-counter/).

### My store card

A QR code and typed code that tell the cashier who you are, so your purchase is saved to your account. It works only in that store, only once, for 3 minutes. [Your store card](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/store-card/my-store-card/).

## Orders and payment

### Pickup

You order in the app and collect it at the store location shown under **Pick up at**.

### Delivery

The store brings the order to your address, sometimes for a delivery charge or above a minimum order.

### Dine-in

You order from your table in a restaurant, optionally picking your table.

### Pay at the store

Pay at the counter when you collect your order (**Pay at the table** for dine-in).

### Cash on delivery

Pay the rider in cash when your delivery arrives.

### Pay by transfer

Send the money from your bank or wallet app to the account the store shows, then upload a photo or PDF of the receipt with the transaction ID. The store checks it and starts your order. [Payment methods](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/shopping/payment-methods/).

### Transaction ID

The reference number your bank or wallet app gives a transfer. The app asks for it when you upload a payment receipt so the store can find your payment.

### Store credit

Money a store keeps for you, usually from a return. Use it at checkout in that store with **Use store credit**. [Store credit and gift cards](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/shopping/store-credit-and-gift-cards/).

### Gift card

A card with a code and balance for one store. Add it to your Wallet with its code or QR and use it at checkout.

### Wallet

The **Account › Wallet** screen that lists your store credit and gift cards for each store.

### Reward points

Points some stores give for purchases. You see your points under **My account here** and on each receipt (earned and used).

### Balance due

Money you still owe a store, for example from a purchase you agreed to pay later. You pay it at the counter or as agreed with the store. [Your account at a store](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/orders/my-account-at-a-store/).

### Booking deposit

An amount a store asks you to pay to confirm a booking, shown on **Pay to confirm** with a time limit. [Pay to confirm a booking](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/bookings/pay-to-confirm-a-booking/).

## Messages and notifications

### Automatic answer

A message the store’s settings send for it, such as a greeting or a “we’re closed” note. It is labeled **Automatic answer**; a person answers later. [Message a store](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/chat/message-a-store/).

### Mute

**Mute this store** stops phone alerts, e-mails and text messages from one store. Its notices still appear in the app’s inbox. [Notifications per store](https://shopper.smartposhub.com/notifications/per-store-notifications/).

## Frequently asked questions

**What is the difference between the store card and the cart code?**

The store card tells the cashier who you are, so the purchase is saved to your account and you get member prices. The cart code loads the items you scanned with Scan & Go. If you have a Scan & Go cart, the store card screen offers to show your cart code too.

**What is the difference between store credit and a gift card?**

Store credit is money a store gives back to your account, usually from a return. A gift card is a card with its own code and balance. Both work only at the store that issued them and both show in your Wallet.

**Is a member price the same in every store?**

No. Each store sets its own prices and decides whether members get better ones. A member price you see in one store says nothing about another store.

**What does guest mean in the app?**

A guest is someone who opened the app without signing in. Guests can look around and see listed stores, but can't join stores, scan into a cart, order or keep receipts.
