SmartPOS Shopper FAQ - common questions answered

Updated View .md

This SmartPOS Shopper FAQ answers the questions shoppers ask most: what the app costs, which stores use it, whether you need an account, why prices can differ, how private your data is, and which phones and languages work. Every topic below links to a full help page with steps and screenshots.

New to the app? Start with what SmartPOS Shopper is, then install the app and sign in with an e-mail code. The app tour explains the Home, Shop, Scan, Cart and Account tabs.

You join a store with its QR poster, store code or link, or find stores near you. Each store is a separate membership — see using several stores.

Browse products, fill your cart and place an order, or use Scan & Go in the store and show your store card at the counter. All the ways to pay are on payment methods.

Find your receipts, track your orders and check your account at a store.

Edit your profile, read what the app stores about you or delete your account.

Do shoppers pay SmartPOS anything to use the app?

Yes. The app is free to download and use. You only pay the stores for what you buy, book or order. Stores that use SmartPOS Hub pay for the system; shoppers never pay a fee to SmartPOS.

Which stores can I use the app with?

Shops, restaurants, pharmacies and other businesses that run SmartPOS Hub and have switched the Shopper app on. Look for the store's QR poster at the counter, ask for its store code, or search in Find stores, which lists the stores that chose to be listed.

Can I use the app without an account?

Partly. Tap Look around as a guest to see what the app does and browse listed stores. To join a store, see member prices, use Scan & Go, place orders or keep receipts, sign in with your e-mail and a one-time code.

How do I sign in if there is no password?

You type your e-mail address and the app sends you a 6-digit code. Enter the code in the app and you are signed in. Each code works once and for 10 minutes, so there is nothing to remember or reset.

Why can a price in the app differ from the price at the counter?

Prices in the app are estimates. The store's till always calculates the final price, including offers, weighed items and taxes. For orders placed in the app, the total is calculated when you place the order and you are asked to check it if anything changed.

What are member prices?

Some stores give their members better prices. Once you join and the store approves you, you see your member price in the app and pay it at the counter when the cashier scans your store card. Until approval you see the normal shelf price.

Does a store see my other stores or purchases?

No. Each store you join is a separate membership. A store only sees what you do with that store, such as your purchases, orders, bookings and messages there. Nothing is shared between stores.

Which languages does the app support?

17 languages, including English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Indonesian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Persian, Malay, Vietnamese and Albanian. Change it under Account, Language.

Does the app work on tablets and iPhones?

It works on Android phones and tablets, with a two-column layout on larger screens. An iPhone version is not available yet.

Can I use the app without internet?

Only a little. Saved stores and your cart stay on the phone, and your cart syncs when you're back online. Joining stores, showing your store card, placing orders and chatting need a connection.

Can other stores see what I buy?

No. Each store you join only sees your membership and the purchases you make at that store. Nothing is shared between stores, even though you use one shopper account for all of them.

How do I get the app?

From Google Play (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartposhub.shopper). Search for SmartPOS Shopper; the icon is orange with a blue shopping bag.
